They were labeled as 'advisers only'. However, they in fact carried a full complement of military hardware. I am a Republician who experienced this conflict. I suspect I am much older than most of the previous posters. This was not a Democrate or Republician war. This was a war of the military in the truest sense of the word. I have prayed for 40+ years our country has at least learned from this horrible war, but we have not. Lost many friends then and in recent years.
